Amazon Black Friday has quickly become one of the hottest Black Friday sales, and rightfully so! With their online only retail space, infinite inventory, and large customer base, they are able to not only provide their own Black Friday specials, they can also match the price of everyone else’s! Amazon is also one of the few stores that still puts the majority of their deals out on Friday, even though there are price drops leading up to Black Friday.
Gold Box Deals
These are daily deals that are available in limited quantity. They go live at 2:00 a.m. CST every morning. There are usually 1-3 different deals available in the off-season, but we can see as high as 25 per day in the busy season (with even more if it’s a department or brand discount). These may be individual items (such as a $99 Shark Vacuum) or discounts off of several similar items (such as ‘up to 65% off popular Hasbro toys’).
These deals are available for 24 hours, or while supplies last. The best deals will sell out very early, especially in the category deals. Make sure you check in early!
Lightning Deals
New deals go live every 5 minutes and will be available for a couple of hours or until sold out (which sometimes happens in seconds). Once you add a lightning deal to your cart, you will have 15 minutes to check out.
Sometimes a lightning deal is sold out, but all purchases have not been completed due to the 15 minute hold. In that instance, you may have the option to ‘Join Waitlist’. If you opt to join the waitlist, you may be granted a chance to purchase the item. Keep an eye on your browser or set up push notification alerts through the app so that you receive notification. You’ll only have a few minutes to respond before the offer is rescinded and passed along to another waitlist member.
These deals can be very hard to sift through due to Amazon’s format, so we do the digging for you! We’ll post a head start to the best deals in our Amazing Lightning Deals group and join Extreme Christmas Savings for even more deals!
Ad Matching
Amazon does not allow you to pick and choose items from other stores to match, but they do closely monitor the sales at other stores and often drop prices to match. We will see this practice increase over the next few weeks, especially during Black Friday week. These deals will appear both as regular items and as lightning deals.

Coupons
We will begin to see two types of coupons appear over the next few weeks. One is similar to a manufacturer coupon and can only be used on the item specified. The other is a department wide discount that will allow you to save a percentage off of eligible items. Both discounts are shown at checkout and not reflected on the item page.
Amazon typically runs a Black Friday season instead of week/day. You can expect to see several different sales:
