Target has already released the updated price matching policy for the 2015 holiday season! It didn’t begin until October 24th last year, so you’ve got almost an extra month to do your shopping!
The new changes affect both online and in-store shopping. Target has expanded the list of online retailers that they will price match and extended the price matching benefit to shopping online at Target.com.
Target Price Matching Policy

In addition to physical stores within a 25 mile radius, you can now match the prices of 29 online retailers. These retailers are:

- Buybuybaby.com
- Costco.com
- CVS.com
- Diapers.com

To price match at Target, you must check out at the guest services desk. If you intend to price match online, you’ll have to call their customer service number at 1-800-591-3869 .
Exclusions
Target will not match clearance prices or prices from other Target stores.
Target Price Adjustment Policy
Target has also increased the price adjustment period to 14 days after purchase. This means that if you purchase an item and the price drops, either at Target or a competitor, you can take in your receipt and get a refund of the difference. The item must be on sale at the time of request.
Alicia’s Thoughts:
While the announcement could be clarified a bit (to exclude 3rd party Amazon sellers, determine what’s a ‘clearance’ price online, store brand to store brand, matching bonus packaging, etc.), it’s a step in the right direction. Although it doesn’t specify, I’m going to assume that the price matched is excluding any coupons or discounts. Price matching at Target is a bit of a hassle because you must check out at guest services. I recommend doing this before your other shopping, especially if you’re after one of the hot deals we post. You don’t want it to sell out online before you get checked out!
There are many retailers listed that will have very few, if any, identical products sold at Target. Sam’s Club and Costco don’t carry typical department store sizes, and Target doesn’t have a huge selection of name brand home decor or pet supplies.
I do think this will be beneficial, especially if you’re shopping for toys, selected electronics, video games, and books.
What do you think? Are you excited about the changes to the Target Price Matching policy?
