Trying to save money is HARD, especially when you are bombarded with great deals! This shopping season has started much earlier than normal, and it’s time for me to take a quick breather and explain a bit about what you’re seeing and what’s to come.
We tend to take a bit of a different approach to posting deals than other sites. It can get a bit confusing at times, but as you’ve probably noticed, we try to keep things as easy as possible and still bring you only the BEST deals.
Deals are posted in several places. We post many of our deals on this site, but we place the largest emphasis on the Extreme Christmas Savings Facebook group. We’ve found over the years that the Facebook group format is the easiest for our readers. You can quickly see the deals in your feed and join in the discussions.
We also take a unique approach to posting the online Black Friday deals. Instead of posting a few here, we have a separate Facebook group for each of the big stores, and we live post EVERY deal for EVERY store as they go live. These groups are only active for a few days each year, but you definitely don’t want to miss the party (links are at the end of this post).
Our sites are always free to view and use, but we do offer a VIP program for those of you who want even more savings! We promise to save you more than the registration fees on the items on your list!
What You Can Expect From Us
I strive for honesty and transparency in each and every post. Our entire goal is to help you buy the items you want for the prices that you need, not to get rich by convincing you to buy junk just because they pay higher commissions.
You will ONLY see legitimate deals. We don’t post items that are an obvious pricing error. Stores are not required to honor a pricing error- and rarely will. It just doesn’t feel right to try to take advantage of someone’s mistakes.
You can trust EVERY store. There’s nothing worse than ordering something that never arrives– except taking a chance at having your information stolen. While we can’t guarantee safety (remember the Target and Michael’s security breeches last year?), we can make sure to thoroughly check out each and every retailer that we feature.
If we say that something is a HOT deal- it’s a HOT deal! One of the most frequent compliments that we get is that we don’t shout “RUN, RUN, RUN! or GO NOW!” over a deal that is mediocre at best- or sometimes even higher than retail. We have software that tracks the pricing history on almost every item, so we can go back and see exactly what is a good price.
We don’t post inflated retail prices. Sometimes a retailer will have a very high list or retail price, which makes the discount look deeper. When we post a ‘was’ price, we try to go off of the price that it can typically be bought at.
We do not include rebates or store promotions in the final price. I prefer to know exactly how much cash out of pocket that I’m paying for an item. If a store is offering an in-store promotion, such as Kohl’s Cash, we count it as a perk- but not off of the final price.
Frequently Asked Questions
Deal shopping can be overwhelming, especially if you’re new to it. New questions always arise, but here are a few of the ones we hear most frequently.
I don’t see the price you have listed. Make sure you’ve read through the post to see if you missed a step or if the sale required something additional, such as Amazon Prime or a store card. If you’ve done everything as listed, the price has probably changed. Sometimes sales come back around, so keep checking back if you miss one.
How long does this deal last? Sales can last for minutes, weeks, or months, but we don’t know. Some prices are based on time, others on a set number of sales. In the rare event we are provided with an end date, the item often sells out before the sale ends.
When will I be charged for an item? Most stores will not charge your card until an item ships. They may place a hold on your account at the time the order is placed.
I put an item in my cart that you posted, and when I went back a few days later, it sold out or the price increased. What happened? Putting an item in your cart does not secure the price, even for a few minutes. It’s estimated that 80% of items that are placed in a shopping cart are left behind, so a retailer doesn’t want to pass up a sure sale for an unlikely one.
How can I easily find deals for specific stores or departments? We’ve added to easy to use menus at the top of the site. One allows you to select the store, and the other lets you shop by department.
