Are we through with stores closed on Thanksgiving Day? 2020 brought many things to a crashing halt, including the growing trend of stores open on Thanksgiving. Black Friday originally started at 6:00 a.m. on Friday morning, but in recent years, stores kept inching that time forward until some were opening at noon on Thanksgiving Day. There were a few loyal fans that didn’t care what time the stores opened, many were forced to decide between skipping family dinner and heading to the stores.
The past couple of holiday shopping seasons have been met with disaster at every turn, but if there’s one thing that went right in 2020, it’s that retailers were forced to take a whole new approach to the Black Friday concept, and the entire holiday season.
Will Stores Reopen on Thanksgiving?
We’ll get a couple of more years in before retailers start battling for the earliest start time. Stores are hosting numerous ‘Black Friday sales’, pushing to spread out their holiday sales over the entire season, putting less emphasis on a single day of sales. We expect to see that fade away eventually, as shoppers become overwhelmed. It’s hard to become excited and spend more, when every day brings a different sale.
